El cometa C/2017 K2 (PANSTARRS) el 20 de junio de 2022, justo cuando pasaba sobre el cúmulo abierto IC 4665 y cerca de la brillante estrella Cebalrai (Beta Ophiuchi) de magnitud 3 sobre un fondo repleto de estrellas al borde de la Vía Láctea. El cometa con un brillo de magnitud 9 se encuentra a 2 U.A. de la Tierra y acercándose al perihelio exhibiendo una cola de polvo de más de medio grado de longitud cruzando sobre las azuladas y jóvenes estrellas del cúmulo.
Comet C/2017 K2 (PANSTARRS) on June 20, 2022, just as it passed over the open cluster IC 4665 and near the bright 3rd magnitude star Cebalrai (Beta Ophiuchi) on top of a star-studded background at the edge of the Milky Way. The comet with a brightness in magnitude 9 is at 2 A.U. from Earth and approaching to perihelion showing a dust tail more than half a degree in length crossing over the bluish young stars of the cluster.
