Me llamo José Joaquín Chambó Bris, (alias Pepe Chambó)

Nacido en la ciudad de Valencia (España), el 4 de Noviembre de 1968.

He vivido en Algemesí hasta 2006 y desde entonces en Vallés, ambos en la provincia de Valencia (España).

Especialista en Electrónica Industrial, trabajo como Responsable de Planificación en una tecnológica.

Soy astrónomo y astrofotógrafo amateur, especializado en el seguimiento y fotografía de cometas.

My name is José Joaquín Chambó Bris, (aka Pepe Chambó)

Born in the city of Valencia (Spain) on November 4, 1968.

I have lived in Algemesí until 2006 and since then in Vallés, both in the province of Valencia (Spain).

Specialist at Industrial Electronics, I work as Planning Manager in a technological company.

I am amateur astronomer and astrophotographer, specialized in tracking and photography comets.

 
Como astrónomo amateur empecé a desarrollar mi afición en 1985 durante la última visita del Cometa Halley. Desde el principio he sido un entusiasta de los cometas, y en todos estos años he ido ampliando mis conocimientos y experiencia, tanto en su seguimiento y observación, como en la obtención de astrofotografías.

Mis imágenes se ha venido publicando en diversas revistas especializadas, como AstronomiA Magazine (España), Sky & Telescope y Astronomy Magazine (EEUU), Astronomy Now y Sky at Night (Reino Unido), Ciel et Espace (Francia), Sterne und Weltraum (Alemania), etc.

También se publican digitalmente en las páginas web de múltiples medios de contenido astronómico, foros, blogs, etc., tanto en ámbito nacional como internacional.

Además de varias fotografías reconocidas por diferentes medios, hasta la fecha ocho de mis imágenes han sido seleccionadas como APOD – NASA (Astronomy Picture of the Day):

Por otra parte, he sido dos veces finalista en el Astronomy Photographer of the Year en la ediciones de 2015 y 2016, el concurso de astrofotografía más prestigioso a nivel mundial, con tres imágenes seleccionadas, que además se han publicado en el libro que los Museos Reales de Greenwich editan anualmente.

Desde 2017 colaboro con el Observatorio del Teide (Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias) obteniendo y procesando imágenes para el estudio sobre fenómenos de la morfología interna cometaria, así como para divulgación de la institución.

Como labor de divulgación en los últimos años he realizado diversas charlas y talleres sobre fotografía de cometas, para las Jornadas Astronómicas del Planetario de Castellón, el Congreso Estatal de Astronomía (España) y el Congreso Internacional de Astrofotografía (México).

En este blog cometografia.es que escribo desde 2011, ofrezco información actualizada para la observación y fotografía de cometas, además de ser también donde publico todos mis trabajos astronómicos.

As amateur astronomer I started to develop my hobby on 1985 during last visit of the Comet Halley. Since the beginning I have been an enthusiastic about comets, and in all these years I have extended my knowledge and experience in its tracing and observation, as in its astrophotograpy.

My images are published in several specialized magazines, as AstronomiA Magazine (Spain), Sky & Telescope and Astronomy Magazine (USA), Astronomy Now and Sky at Night (UK), Ciel et Espace (France), Sterne und Weltraum (Germany), etc.

Also are digitally published in the web pages of several media of astronomical content, forums, blogs, etc., in Spanish and international ambit.

Aside from several images which have been recognized by several publishing mediums, until now eight of my images has been selected as APOD – NASA (Astronomy Picture of the Day):

Moreover, I have been two times shortlisted in the Astronomy Photographer of the Year in 2015 and 2016 editions, the most prestigious astrophotography contest on the world, with three images selected that besides were published into the book that Greenwich Royal Museums edits annually.

Since 2017 I collaborated with Teide Observatory (Institute of Astrophysics of the Canary Islands) taking and processing images for the study of cometary inner morphologic phenomena, as well as for institution’s public outreach.

As outreach work in recent years I have given various talks and workshops on comet photography, for the Astronomical Conference of the Planetarium of Castellón, the State Congress of Astronomy (Spain) and the International Congress of Astrophotography (Mexico).

In this blog cometografia.es in which I write since 2011, I offer upgraded information for the comets observation and its photography, and is where I also publish all my astronomical works.
