the comet man

Hello everyone,

Today is the 20th anniversary of my discovery of Comet Hale-Bopp. I think all of you know that, for the past year and a half, I have been working on a book that, although it didn’t quite start out that way, eventually became a full autobiography, together with a thorough discussion together with a thorough discussion of my lifetime of observing comets and other astronomical phenomena (and my involvement in various elements of the space community). I had planned all along to release the book as an e-book today, and I am in fact doing so.

If you are receiving this e-mail, that means that you either provided one or more photographs that I used in the book, and/or helped with the book in some other way, and/or you’re a close friend or a family member or someone else whom I want to have a free copy of the book before it actually goes on sale.

Thank you to all of you who helped with the book in some form or other, and for being a friend and for sharing at least part of my life’s journey with me. I hope you enjoy the book.

Sincerely,
Alan
